Sheep Fest 2023
Sheep Fest was a one-day festival which focussed on collective learning through sharing during organized workshops and activities. Its aim was to give space for connections and friendships between people, animals and plants. Among friends, family and neighbours, the sheep were also at the party. It took place on the 2nd of July at Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof.
The day began with a foraging/nature connection workshop with Rens Spanjaard. He proposes picking and using wild plants as the most radical way to connect with the earth. The workshop was set up as a mindfulness practice and knowledgesharing.
Merel and Leo from The Outsiders shared their experiences of cycling from Maastricht to Utrecht, staying at farms along the way.
This was followed by a work(ing-it-out-together)shop by Tom and Sterre in sheepcheese making.
In the evening there was a shared dinner cooked by Anna Celda and Sankrit Kulmanochawong over an open flame. They incorporated ingredients from the workshops earlier that day and added a deep fried sheep’s milk dessert. Interestingly this is a recipe found in both Spanish and Thai cuisine, harking back to both of their origins.
This project was generously sponsored by AFK & Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof.
